Tim Lincecum pitches his second career no-hitter against Padres

By James H. Williams

San Francisco Giants’ Tim Lincecum becomes the first player to no-hit the same team, Padres, since Addie Joss in 1910.

It was also the third no-hitter during the season  following Josh Beckett and Clayton Kershaw, both of which play for the Giants’ NL-West rival Los Angeles Dodgers.

Lincecum joins Christy Mathewson as the second pitcher in franchise history with two no-hitters. He also becomes the fourth active pitcher (Mark Buehrle, Homer Bailey, Justin Verlander) with two no-hitters.

Lincecum had six strikeouts in his shutout victory against the Padres, 4-0.

He threw for 113 pitches and allowed only one walk against San Diego as Chase Headley walked in the second inning.

He also contributed on the offensive side for the Giants going 2 for 3 with two runs scored.
