Ravens lose ninth starter from 2012 Super Bowl winning team

By James Williams

Baltimore Ravens released full back Vonta Leach.

Leach’s release followed after both sides were unable to come to terms on a contract.

Leach was not willing to take less money to stay on the team.

The Ravens, who are coming off a Super Bowl winning season, will have a lot of fresh faces going into the 2013 season.

The Ravens lost nine starters from their Super Bowl winning roster for various reasons.

The nine players include Leach, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Anquan Boldin, Bernard Pollard, Matt Birk, Dannell Ellerbe, Cary Williams, and Ma’ake Kemoeatu.

The biggest headline coming out of the Ravens camp during the offseason other than the lost of the nine players was the big pay-day for quarterback Joe Flacco.

Flacco’s contract extension with the Ravens was six years for $120.6 million.

The contract made him the highest paid player in the NFL.

Leach will begin his search for a new team with a visit to the Miami Dolphins later this week.

Another possible landing spot for Leach might be with his former team, the Houston Texans.
