Penguins and Evgeni Malkin agree to eight-year extension

By James Williams

Penguins and center Evgeni Malkin agree to a eight-year extension worth $76 million.

Malkin won the MVP after the 2011-12 season, and is a team captain along with star Sidney Crosby.

The team also agreed with head coach Dan Bylsma and assistant coaches Tony Granato and Todd Reirden to contract extensions.

The signings show that despite how the season ended for the team in 2013, the franchise is confident with the pieces they have going forward.
