Giants win third World Series in the last five years

The San Francisco Giants defeated the Kansas City Royals, 3-2, in Game 7 of the World Series.

It is the third World Series win for San Francisco in the last five years.

Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner retired Royals’ Salvador Perez for the final out to be credited with the save in Game 7 of the series.

Bumgarner was named the 2014 World Series MVP. He finished with a 0.43 ERA and recorded two wins during the series.

UPDATE: MLB announced a scoring change following Game 7. Giants’ Jeremy Affeldt has been credited with the Game 7 win. Madison Bumgarner credited with the save.
