If you haven’t heard already, former USC Trojan and former San Diego Chargers linebacker Junior Seau was arrested on Sunday in Oceanside, CA on charges of felony spousal assault in which his girlfriend said Seau had assaulted her during a verbal argument the couple was having.
The girlfriend of Seau didn’t have to be sent to the hospital with any major injuries.
When police had arrived to the home in which the incident was reported, Seau wasn’t there.
He later had spoken to police on the phone and Seau agreed to return back to his home, in which he was arrested without incident as soon as he returned home. Seau posted bail after 3 a.m.
Early Monday morning Carlsbad police responded to a 911 call for a vehicle being off the side of the road.
When both police and fire personnel arrived to the scene they found Junior Seau’s Cadillac SUV on the beach, 30 feet below the roadside.
Seau being the only person in the SUV at the time was sent to the hospital with just minor injuries, including cuts, bruises, and is being treating for a concussion. Seau’s attorney, Mike Kinkler, said that the two incidents were unrelated.
Kinkler also stated that Seau was going to be meeting with his assistant, Betty Hoffman, for coffee at 9 a.m. when the car accident happened, in which Kinkler said occurred because of the rain that San Diego was having the last few days and that the car accident was not intentional at all.
Seau played his last season in the NFL in 2009 as a backup for the New England Patriots.
