The San Diego Chargers had a great match up against the San Francisco 49ers in their Thursday night game on the NFL network.
The Chargers only had one question going into the game and that was, who is Phillip Rivers going to throw the ball to?
A few hours before the game took place, two of Rivers’ favorite targets, tight end Antonio Gates and Wide Receiver Malcolm Floyd, were ruled out for the game. Both players were dealing with injuries.
Chargers had to look to off-season holdout Vincent Jackson to hold down the fort and make the plays while Floyd and Gates watched from the sidelines.
Jackson had came back from his holdout in week 13 against the Indianapolis Colts, only to get hurt two plays into the game with a calf injury.
Jackson came back even stronger on Thursday night against the 49ers than he did the week before when he only had two catches for 29 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jackson had himself a monster game on Thursday, getting five catches for a total of 112 yards which had resulted into three touchdowns.
Many of the Chargers faithful hope this isn’t just a one hit wonder performance from Jackson and that he continues to play like he did for the remainder of the season.
