The Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Oregon Ducks, 42-20, to win the 2015 College Football National Championship, the first under the new playoff format.
Buckeyes running back Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 246 yards and four touchdowns against the Ducks.
The victory also gave head coach Urban Meyer his third College Football National Championship, making him the second coach, along with Nick Saban, to win a National Title with two different football programs.
In only his third start as the Ohio State quarterback, sophomore Cardale Jones went 16 for 23 passing for 242 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
The Buckeyes have won three straight games with Jones as the starter, against Wisconsin in the Big Ten Conference Title game, Alabama in the All-State Sugar Bowl, and Oregon in the Title game.
For the Ducks, Heisman-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota went 24 of 37 passing for 333 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
