The Elsinore Tigers defeat the 2011 CIF champion Rancho Verde Mustangs, 46-42, on the road in their season opener.
The loss snaps the Mustangs’ 14-game winning streak that lead to a 14-0 undefeated season in 2011.
The Tigers did not lead the game until the final 1:36 in the 4th quarter.
Running back Noah Paculba rushed for 49-yards into the end zone for a touchdown to give the Tigers their first lead.
Paculba scored the third of the last three touchdowns scored in the 4th quarter, with all three coming from the Tigers.
The other two touchdowns in the fourth came from running back Allan Stubbs.
Stubbs ran for 29 yards to score a touchdown against the Mustangs, in what was the beginning of a game winning rally.
Stubbs also caught a 9 yard catch from quarterback Tommy Wilson, which was followed by a successful two point conversation with 2:55 left to play in the 4th quarter.
Stubbs had 15 carries for 93 yards and one rushing touchdown.
He also had 22 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.
Mustang wide receiver Demorea Stringfellow scored two receiving touchdowns.
The first touchdown was a 51-yard touchdown catch in the 2nd quarter.
The second touchdown was a 13-yard pass into the end zone with 11:11 remaining in the game.
After the play, Stringfellow was slow to get up appeared to be injured.
He managed to get up and return back to the game but the offense was unable to score again.
Stringfellow had five catches for 124 receiving yards in the loss.
