The Rancho Verde Mustangs defeat the Valley View Eagles, 48-13, in Moreno Valley, CA on Sept. 21st.
The Mustangs dominated every phase of the game, scoring on defense, offense, and special teams.
The Mustangs found the end zone early in the first quarter, as Eagles quarterback Samir Gandy threw an interception to Mustang linebacker James Simpson, who returned the ball 30 yards for a touchdown.
The Eagles put their first points on the board with a 20-yard field goal with 4:31 left in the first quarter.
After the field goal, the Mustangs answered back on the following play with a 95-yard kickoff return by Cedric Peterson.
Eagles did not score again the first half until the closing seconds to end the 2nd quarter with a 48-yard field for the team’s final score of the night.
Already up 14-3 in the first quarter, the Mustang offense made its first appearance of the game with 2:02 left in the 1st quarter.
The team capped off their first drive of the game on offense with a 20-yard touchdown pass.
Mustangs’ running back Keshawn Slaughter rushed for 103 yard and had one touchdown against the Eagles.
The Eagles will be on the road against Arlington High School in the team’s next game on Sept. 27th.
The Mustangs will look to add to their three game winning streak against Riverside Poly High School at Rancho Verde on Sept. 28th.
