Saying Goodbye to the Best

The crowd got to say their final good-byes and show their support to one of the greatest in it’s sport, that being Zenyatta.

Zenyatta made one of her final public appearances, in the place where she had her debut, at Hollywood park during her retirement ceremony.

She debuted at Hollywood park on November 22, 2007 and had her final race in the Breeders’ Cup Classic-G1 on November 6,2010, in which she came in 2nd place.

It was the only race Zenyatta had ever lost. Even with a loss on her record, many of her fans found their way from all over to see her at Hollywood Park.

Many of the fans there were shown some of her greatest races on the TV monitors throughout the day of her retirement ceremony. Many people who waited in line for jockey Mike Smith’s autograph or who circled around to see Zenyatta appear at the paddock, had heard a lot of the great races that were being shown, threw the speakers.

Many of the fans laughed and smiled as they were able to tell which race was being showed because of the way announcers were going crazy when they called the races and reacted to Zenyatta’s big leads or great come back finishes.

Zenyatta is one of the greatest race horses of all time, if not the greatest and the fans let her know that she was the horse of the year as they shouted it out load and proud.

The following morning after being at the Hollywood park track, Zenyatta left sunny California, for Lane’s End Farm in Versailles, Kentucky, where it was 18 degrees and a thin blanket of snow covered the ground, upon her arrival.
