Trojans fight on past Warriors

Quarterback Matt Barkley andthe USC Trojans defeat the Hawaii Warriors 49-10 in the Los Angeles Coliseum on Sept 1.

Barkley completed 24 of his 39 passes for 351 yards and four touchdowns.

Barkley connected with wide receiver Marquis Lee on the opening play for a 75-yard touchdown against the Hawaii defense.

While the Warriors offense was unable to score in the first half, the cornerbacks for the Warriors managed to bats down a few balls thrown at Trojan receivers in response to the Lee’s touchdown.

It was not until the third quarter that Hawaii scored its first touchdown of the game.

Hawaii QB Sean Schroeder completed an 18-yard touchdown pass to WR Scott Harding.

The only other points Hawaii managed to put up on the board against the Trojans, were from a 36-yard field goal by kicker Tyler Hadden, which also came in the 3rd quarter.

Lee responded to Hawaii’s touchdown with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Running back Silas Redd had nine carries for 57 yards and one touchdown. He also had one fumble in his USC debut.

Trojans wide receiver Robert Woods had six catches for 42 yards and 2 touchdowns.

USC will look to play the Syracuse Orange on Sept 8th. Hawaii will play the Lamar Cardinals in their next game on Sept 16.
